Anyone who was a child who enjoyed cartoons and action figures in the 1980’s, this art exhibit is for you.
In Los Angeles, there is an art exhibit called “Under The Influence: Masters of the Universe Tribute.” Here is the link for the art that is being featured at this exhibit and available for purchase.
It. Is. Awesome.
I’m not going to sit here and wax poetic about He-Man and bring up a bunch of random players in the land of Eternia. I’m going to let the artwork do the talking for me.
Even if you were a marginal fan of He-Man growing up, you need to check this stuff out.

While the focus is on the big send-off for Rosenblatt, we thought this was pretty cool. One of our listeners sent us the blueprints on the new stadium.
Regardless of your stance on the issue of “Save The Blatt” or “We Need A New Stadium That We Might Not Be Able To Afford and Place It In An Already Congested Area,” it is going to look pretty sweet.

The Weekly Grind – 1-year anniversary party!

Pinch yourself, you’re not dreaming. The Weekly Grind has been on the air for a whole year. The FCC didn’t arrest us. Our listeners didn’t snuff us out. And our wives/girlfriends didn’t dump us.
That’s reason to celebrate!
We also want to show the great amount of appreciation to all of our listeners. So we’re throwing a party…one with free food and free beer. Here’s the details:

As young professionals, many of us are at a crossroads with our career. Are we doing what we love to do? Are we making as much as we thought we would? Am I successful?
Well does any of this matter? In this very compelling TED talk, Alain de Botton, the author of Pleasures and Sorrows of Work, explains how success should be personally defined…and how that can make your live more pleasurable.
Anyway, I’m not doing it justice. This really is a great talk, and very relevant to our age group. So I hope it inspires you in some manner. Enjoy:

Suttle Gives $75,000 In Raises…Despite Budget Shortfall

Our man Mayor Jim Suttle is at it again:
Richard O’Gara will be taking over as the City’s new director of human resources. He will be paid $145,000 annually. The man he is replacing–Tom Marfisi–made $98,000 last year.
Here’s the kicker regarding this move: Marfisi not only will be keeping a position with the City–he is getting a raise!! In Tom’s “new” role, he’ll earn $108,000 a year.
I only wish I could get a demotion with less responsibility and receive a $10,000 annual raise.
In other City news, we also have a new City parks director in Melinda Pearson. At this point, no one should be surprised she received a raise over her predecessor, too: to the tune of $18,000 annually.
So, in the middle of a budget meltdown–before Snow-My-God 2009 (thanks, Shick & Nick)–we offer THREE people $75,000 more a year than what the City paid these same positions last year? When we’re trying to get other City employees to take pay cuts and take time off?
We shouldn’t be shocked at this point, but…well, I guess Suttle has topped himself yet again.
