The Skinny on Big Omaha
After a few weeks away, Bryan Mohr and I return this morning at 10 on KOIL 1180 AM to talk all things big and small about Big Omaha 2011, happening next month at the creative and spacious KANEKO in Omaha’s historic Old Market district. Jeff Slobotski of Silicon Prairie News, the organizer of the third annual event, will give us a sneak preview of this very exciting conference that has grown year after year.
We will also get caught up on the latest news making headlines for Omaha’s young professionals, and probably tell a joke or two. Join us!

We’ll find out Saturday morning when Will Simons of the new (and highly talked-about) OMAHYPE website joins us in studio. He’ll offer the website’s background story, the design, and how you can get involved.

First, we chatted with Andy Norman from Hear Nebraska (hearnebraska.org). He talked about how his website is trying change the way people think about Nebraska. Good stuff.
Then we talked with Omaha Beef players Cortney Grixby and Diaz Calbert. We were also joined by the Beef’s gameday operations manager, Travis Johnson. Overall they talked about the fun atmosphere of their games and how home games are the perfect event for anyone. It was a great and lively interview. Oh, their first home game is NEXT SATURDAY and season tickets are on sale now, so be sure to check out the Beef website for all the details.

It’s the last show before the YPC Summit (March 3), so tomorrow we’ll be interviewing one of the presenter’s, Thomas Wilkins, the director of the Omaha Symphony. We’ll not only be chatting about the symphony, but we’ll also touch on his presentation about servant leadership. Should be a very insightful show. So you should tune in.

The YPC Summit is right around the corner. Last Saturday we talked with one of the featured speakers, Jason Seiden.
Tomorrow, we’ll continue featuring the event by talking to Summit chairpeople/organizers, Katrina Olsen and Dan Holke. Phoning in from the Windy City Saturday morning was Jason Seiden, a consultant, entrepreneur, and award-winning author who will offer the opening presentation at the 2011 Young Professionals Summit, happening Thursday, March 3, at the Qwest Center.
Jason weighed in on the idea of failure in the workplace, and how today’s young professionals are finding their callings and their passions.
We also chatted about fast food toys and childhood obesity, inspired by our Omaha.net story of the week: “Toys or No Toys in Fast-Food Meals?” by Vicky DeCoster.
